Why This Project Matters

I'm quite excited about summer coming up. What excites me the most is that summer = camp season! If you saw the look in my kids eyes when I mentioned camp, you'd understand my excitement...let me try to explain.

At camp, kids have FUN. They are out of the city and into the country with grass, trees, bugs, and a huge lake for them to swim in. Then, there is our added fun of a giant water slide, games and crafts. At camp, they simply get to be kids.

At camp, kids are FULL. They are fed 3 delicious meals a day family style (by delicious, I mean the staff gain weight from camp because the food is so good). Family style means that 6 kids sit at a table together with a male and female counselor. All the food is placed on the table and they get to serve each other... and eat as much as they would like (within reason of course). Most of the kids have never experienced sitting down to eat dinner with their family. Some kids don't always get to eat until they are full.

At camp, kids are FED - and I don't mean food. They are fed emotionally and spiritually. Each day there is Chapel time. It's a time of worship and a lesson from the Bible. It's during this time that the kids have an opportunity to let go other fears, doubts, struggles and give them to God. It's during this time that they are able to hear how God is for them, has a future for them, that He can be trusted and that He loves them. Each kid has a counselor that also takes time to pray with them before bed, to talk encourage and support them. Something they don't always get from home.

Having fun, being full and getting fed are what I desire for my kids to experience. The only way they are going to get to camp, though, is if you help.

Please, will you help send a child to camp? Any donation amount will help!

** GOAL AMOUNT EXPLAINED ** It cost $200 for ONE child to go to camp. I have 18 kids in mind from my route who I'd like to send to camp.
